The Mission

Our mission is all about children’s safety.

We believe children should be educated in a way that makes sense to them, rather than in traditional adult methods. Santa Claus is an excellent media for training. Children naturally trust him, and listen and obey his simple requests.

We believe that adults need to be informed about how the child is learning to be “aware, but not afraid” of the world around them. This way they can support children in their new safety ideas and habits.

We believe those interested in becoming Santa Claus should have training available which promotes healthy relationships and awareness of children’s vulnerability.

The Beginnings

In the third year of this Santa Claus, a well-meaning parent chastised Santa for several minutes regarding child safety issues. Unable to disagree with her, Santa pondered her message with an eye to making a difference. It has often been said that one person can make a difference, and so The Santa Project was begun.

In the beginning, we didn’t call it that. It was just one Santa talking to kids about the dangers they might encounter during the busy Holiday Season at year-end. Many Head Start groups, kindergartens, and up to fifth grade students have heard the story. Teachers and principals alike have been shocked at children’s response to the question, Is Santa a stranger. If only the chastiser knew how accurate and far-reaching her message was. Or maybe she did! It’s the rest of us who aren’t aware!

The program has been refined over the last ten years. The most recent refinement puts it into schools year round, with phenomenal success.

Now we are looking for adults to join us in spreading this message throughout the land. Educators, parents and child-care people can help. Contact us now.
